GIGANTIC Is run by me and Dan Lomax (from the session/ the garage at the cockpit) playing our firebarnd of Alternative Indie Electro every Thursday night from 11am - 3am.

We' ve had some nearly famous people come through our doors and some kids which have had flashes of fame form bands there. BLack Wire met at our club in a heap on the floor to 'The Ace Of Spades', the Electric Six turned up once (sans beards), as did the Webb brothers and Metric we're ween recently bobbing about to their own songs. I must mention Shut Your Eyes and You'll Burst Into Flames who wrote a song based on their experiences at GIgantic and whom still pop in when theyre not on tour. But the most famous person we've had (although I didn't recognise her) was some guy from Leeds /California rock band Spacehog and his then girlfriend Liv Tyler! I think she was chraged the nominal £3 entry.

The hijghlight for me is Gigantic doing warm up slots and aftershows for up coming Indie bands Death from Above 1979, Franz Ferdind, Bloc Party, but my favourite was LCD soundsystem at the blank canvas where I had the pleasure (albeit drunkenly) of meeting James Murphy and sharing his bottle of Jamesons.

GIGANTIC started life in the Harvey Milk bar (now Mine) at Leeds University Union in September 2001, but with LUU events management constantly changing hands and the uncertainty of the milk bar been bulldozed in to make way for a new 1300 capacity venue (now Stylus) GIGANTIC had to leave the roost and settled down the road at a new club called The Bassment where it flourished under its new music policy until it shut down at the end of 2004. Helping hands and old aquaintences assured GIGANTIC residency at The Faversham for a year before returning to 2006 to The Bassment now renamed The Subculture.
